ABOUT MELISSA
Melissa Parke Rousseau is an established Abstract Artist, Designer, and the Creative Director of Studio Rousseau.
She began her creative career with valuable stints in the fashion editorial world and as part of the window merchandising team at the beloved Bergdorf Goodman in New York City. She then went on to study Metalsmithing at the North Bennet Street School in Boston and launched her handcrafted gold jewelry line rooted in her of the botanical world.
In 2008, she received her Masters in Art Education from The Rhode Island School of Design.
When creating for her Visual Identity Design clients, she lives in the beautiful space where less is more and celebrates the inspiration the she draws from minimal architecture, organic textures and materials, calming neutrals, the power of white space, a well placed pop of color, striking photography, and incredible layouts and typography.
In her painting studio her abstract work is deeply rooted in her reverence and connection to the earth and its intricate patterns and layered landscapes.
Melissa utilizes a diverse range of techniques and mediums to express her vision, and her ethereal works are meant to inspire viewers to pause, calm, reflect, and reconnect to nature. With an eye for capturing the essence of the natural world and the subtle interplay of colors and textures, she creates large scale watercolors, paintings, and prints. Her latest offering The Aura Series / the Shades of Sea release is available now.
Today she is very grateful to be able to balance her time between her passions / painting and experimenting in her art studio and designing and collaborating with other creative entrepreneurs and thoughtful innovators.
